April 2014 Zimpeto Child Reintegration Program Update

The reintegration team continues to make many home visits. The team consists of 3 Mozambican women who do all of the home visits, and one driver (a missionary who oversees the administration and finances). We are kept busy with:

•    new home visits to assess the suitability for children to enter the centre
•    revisits to our own 260 children social situations of the families of our children, and identifying children whose families are ready to receive them back into the family home
•    assessing situations of children whose families require a new home or a repair to a home
•    following up inheritance and land rights of our centre children
•    revisiting children who have been previously reintegrated

In April alone, we became aware of three babies in a state of severe malnutrition, and are now caring for them.

[Our newest set of twins]

Lydia (not her real name) is 5 months old and weighs 2.5kgs; the same as her birth weight. Lydia came to us from a family referral. Her mother is alive but unwell, and her father was not happy to have her come into the centre at first. After seeing the nursery, he let her come to us. She has gained 300  grams in 3 weeks. Thank you Lord!
