Iris Africa Malawi, December 2011

This is a personal photographic journal of a month spent amongst the beautiful people of Malawi, by Michael Steingard.

“I had the honor of building friendship with the folks at the Iris Ministries Base in Bangula, Malawi. This was a personal time of rest and relationship. I informally taught photography and music, and participated with aid work in the surrounding villages. I have the utmost of admiration and respect for the folks I met along this journey. Iris is more of a family than an organization, and the work they do is amazing.

“This is not a documentary of the work of Iris, however, as the warm light of an African sunrise cannot help but fill the valleys with its golden rays; the kindness of a good God working through the hands of Iris, cannot help but permeate these photographs. These are the faces, the places, and moments that linger in my heart and mind...”
