March 2015 Children's Feeding Program in Northern Mozambique Update
Through funds contributed by IMC, we are currently feeding between 4,500-5,000 needy Mozambican children daily!
This is a huge commitment and is making a significant contribution to the war against poverty in our region of northern Mozambique. It is truly saving lives; and it’s helping poor village children attend school and eventually break free from the vicious cycle of poverty and suffering that has characterized village life for generations.
However, for us as Christian missionaries—unlike secular humanitarian aid workers—all this good is seen as a means to an even higher good. Our highest goal is to demonstrate the love of God the Father through good works done in Jesus’ name and to see personal commitment and spiritual transformation replace the darkness and hopelessness of traditional village culture and religion.
We are currently overseeing the construction of a new building to expand and improve the facilities which house the children’s discipleship and feeding program on the Iris Pemba Base. Construction is proceeding slowly due to the incessant rains right now, but the building will be ready for use in another couple of months and will be a wonderful blessing to the 500 needy children who come daily and receive spiritual and physical nurture through this program.
