Bob & Betty Blanchette

October 2016 Bob & Betty Blanchette Update

It has been so good to return to Zimpeto after a season in Canada. It has been great to see all of our friends and the children, and the young  men and women that we work with.

Bob has been busy with the carpentry training program, building some doors and windows, a desk and a bench. They also  tore out the old play ground equipment on base. The children were not too happy! What they didn’t know was that a company was coming in to put up some new equipment shortly thereafter.

June 2016 Bob & Betty Blanchette Update

"We are in the process of getting ready to return to Mozambique. We have everything in order and will soon be sending away for our visas. It seems that every year we come back home not knowing if we will return to Mozambique but when spring comes along we start planning our return. We are leaving from Detroit on August 15 and will return on December 15.

We will be working in Zimpeto this year and I’m looking forward to training boys again. Betty is also looking forward to working with the girls in the sewing room."

October 2014 Bob & Betty Blanchette Update

We are happy to be back in Zimpeto and all is going well!

We have the carpentry shop at Marracuene up and running, have made four windows, and will be delivering them tomorrow morning.

Emilio and Bob are working with three boys, Antonio, Betinho, and Santo. They are there to learn how to make windows and doors. Emilio and Bob were out there last week getting things ready and the boys started on Monday of this week. They are very eager to learn. It is our goal to be able to make windows and doors for the community, which will also help to cut down expenses in the workshop.

October 2013 Bob & Betty Blanchette Update

Having arrived back in June, we are just over half-way through our time here for this year. The boys and I have been extremely busy building cupboards and making beds in the shop. We also made a TV stand and 5 benches, and spent 4 weeks putting drop ceilings in the offices of the school.

Betty is teaching 21 girls to sew this time, and is also teaching 6 ladies from the community. Betty is grateful to have two assistants now, one part-time and one that is going to hopefully be able to take over for Betty when we leave in December.

November 2012 Bob & Betty Blanchette Update

Our time here has passed so very quickly. It is hard to believe that we are returning home to Canada next week. We are hoping/planning on returning for a longer period of time later in 2013.

It has been wonderful being with the boys and girls and our missionary friends again these past three months.

It has been a busy time in the workshop. Bob has 3 Mozambicans working alongside and together they have been able to accomplish quite a bit for the centre. Here’s a list of what’s been built:
