April 2008 David & Joanna Morrison Update

The Morrisons' have now been in Malawi almost 5 years. For Kalina that means that the heat and markets of Malawi are more familiar than the cold winter and malls of Canada; she occasionally forgets words in English which she knows in Chichewa; she can’t really imagine what it would be like to live in Canada. Just last week Kalina went shopping at the market with Joanna and they found 10 dresses (not all for themselves) for less than $10.00...it was a good shopping day!

The boys continue to enjoy their friends, a combination of cricket and baseball which only they understand, and slashing the bush. Thankfully, the only snakes we have seen lately have been dead ones. Our homeschooling program this year has taken the children through many interesting countries in the eastern hemisphere. It has been good to have various helpers passing through to give Joanna a break, and the kids a change of voice!

Mo and Joanna keep more than busy parenting 3 and grand-parenting 48 children, and caring for the many needs that come their way every day. “It is so important to stay connected to the Vine these days, to know His priorities and purposes. While we have Malawian friends who run the Feeding Programs, Bible School, and Children’s Homes, the day to day decisions often fall to us. Of course, we have the great joy of seeing the transformation in our Malawian children, as they soak in the love that Jesus offers them…it is an amazing miracle every time! Please pray for wisdom, and for endurance.”
