June 2009 Southern Malawi Ministry Centre Update
Hello from Malawi! Here in Bangula, right in the southern tip of Malawi, we are so privileged to be part of what God is doing. We recently graduated 50 pastors at the Bible school, and sent them out from one end of the country to the other. We pray for lasting fruit in their families, churches, and villages. We have four children’s homes on site, with 12 children in each home along with their Malawian house parents. The kids are growing in all ways. It is great to see them grow physically after some months of good food. At school, they are growing in their capacity to learn. Sweeter still is to see them grow in faith, as they are exposed to love and grace. The Spirit is moving among the children, touching their hearts. It is wonderful to see them come alive before our eyes, like sunflowers in the sunshine.

Recently, we discovered a gem among our workers on site. His name is Kelvin, and he comes from an unusual Christian home. He committed his life to Christ after seeing a man raised to life. He fell in love in high school, and decided to marry since he had no brothers or sisters and wanted the closeness of family. His parents blessed his choice. All this is quite unusual in this region. In his work, he is diligent and faithful. And so, right now, Kelvin is in Florida studying at a school of fisheries. He will return to us to run a fish farm, and provide sustainable income, not to mention fish, for the base. God is so good to have prepared a young man for such a time as this.
The miracles among the children are mostly beneath the surface as they are healed of their orphan hearts. But one of our girls has also been restored physically which is awesome. She came to us with spinal tuberculosis, which was diagnosed at a clinic in town. She was chosen to receive spinal surgery at the hands of American surgeons visiting CURE Hospital in Blantyre. She recovered, and then suffered a set back. She had a recurrence of TB in the brain. Doctors prescribed an aggressive treatment. It was not easy but we persevered. Today, she is a living, dancing, running example of grace, and we give thanks to her Creator and ours. God, you are so good!
