December 2010 Linda Currie Update
“Once again it is time to reflect on the activities of the past several months here in Pemba of how God has moved in our midst, and look to his plans for the future months. This has been an incredibly busy time for me, as the missionary overseeing the kitchen. It has been a joy for me to assist and see some of my Mozambican brothers and sisters stepping out and trusting God as they take on new positions. There have also been some deep disappointments as others chose wrong paths. In it all I can see God moving, and I trust in his infinite goodness and wisdom.
“Jesus said that his grace is sufficient in all things, so I would like to share with you two areas that have brought me joy, love and abundant life in the midst of a somewhat crazy schedule. The first is a discipleship group of community boys 14-19 years of age. We meet every night Monday through Saturday for 1 1/2 hours of worship, prayer, preaching and sharing a meal together. The group chose the name ‘kingdom kids” and there are 50-60 youth that come every night. We all memorize scripture every week so that we are prepared for the enemy when he comes with ‘It is written’, and he has to flee.
“We are preparing to go out on outreach and partner with a local village church to spread the Gospel and lead others to Jesus. This group has been totally Holy Spirit led. Only he could change the hearts of these young men in such a beautiful way. When we first started meeting together two years ago they were rude with foul language, stealing, lying, dirty and could not sit for 5 minutes without an argument or a fight breaking out. God brought the right leaders at just the right times and proved in a very visible way that his grace is truly sufficient. Today many want to be pastors and dream of living their lives for God.
“The other area I want to share about is more personal. God has brought to me a Mozambican family. I have two sons and a daughter, Amade 19, Nasimo 18 and Sabina 9. Nasimo is preparing to go off to school in Zambesia in January. He has been on his own since the age of 8 when He accepted Jesus. God has always had his hand on Nasimo, directing his life. I have known Sabina since she was 4 years old. She had a very abusive start but Iris has given her a new life and she is a joy, loves Jesus, and is growing into a beautiful child with an even more beautiful heart for God. Once again his grace is sufficient to change lives and hearts, and in the process mould and change mine. Thank you Jesus.”
