November 2010 Sewing and Carpenty Program Update

"On November 1st, after 3 and 1/2 years with Iris Ministries, we left the Zimpeto centre to move back to Canada. It was a sad day for us as this has been our home and we really enjoyed working with the boys and girls, teaching them woodworking skills and sewing skills. Please pray for missionaries with suitable skills to replace us so the young people will continue to learn and grow.

"In the carpentry program we finished a huge job for a centre near our centre. There were 31 windows and six doors. This centre is being built by someone who used to be at Zimpeto and is truly excited that the boys at our centre that she knew would build the windows for her new centre. Iht took us 4 months to complete and I have sent a picture of the new centre wit our windows in it.

"In the sewing program the girls have learned many different sewing skills including drapery making, dress making, quilting and appliquéing. They are becoming well rounded in their sewing skills. The program is continuing under the leadership of Carla, Betty's Mozambican assistant. Carla does amazing work but is still in need of further teaching herself.

"We are helping a young man, Jeremiah, who is the first university student to come from the centre. He has been very close to our hearts, mainly because he is very honest and trustworthy. Over the years we have formed relationships with many of the young people. We trust that the work we have done with them will have a lasting effect on them and their future."

God Bless
