November 2012 Zimpeto Sewing and Carpentry Program Update

Our time here has passed so very quickly. It is hard to believe that we are returning home to Canada next week. We are hoping/planning on returning for a longer period of time later in 2013.

It has been wonderful being with the boys and girls and our missionary friends again these past three months.

It has been a busy time in the workshop. Bob has 3 Mozambicans working alongside and together they have been able to accomplish quite a bit for the centre. Here’s a list of what’s been built:

17 small tables for the school
2 bunk beds for the special needs house.
A small bed for the special needs house.
2 more bunk beds for a small dorm.
8 windows for the prayer room that is being built.
4 doors for the prayer room.

We hope to be able to start up the Marracuene workshop again when we return to Mozambique in the summer of 2013.

Betty has been busy in the sewing room teaching 20 girls (10 for the first time), 5 days per week. The girls have been quite excited to sew again and the program has gone over very well. The new girls have been working on their sewing basics and are all making good progress. The more experienced girls have been making skirts for the tias (Aunties), women who work in the girls' dorms taking care of them. The girls are gaining skills and learning what a blessing it is to give, and the ladies receiving the skirts are very touched by such love. Betty is looking forward to coming back next year to help them further their skills in this area.
