April 2023 Zimpeto Community Infant Milk and Food Supplement Program Update
Infant Milk Supplement Program:
Zaina was born on January 28th and came to us weighing 2.99 kg.
Her mother has breast cancer and cannot breastfeed. Additionally, the mother was abandoned by her husband and left at home with three girls, 9, 7, and baby Zaina.
Zaina’s mother told us that she used to have a small business but no longer does due to lack of money, and the need to care for the children on her own.
The milk program is a great help to her and the family.
Food Supplement Program:
Elisa (on the left in the picture below) lived on the Zimpeto base from the time she was a child. She successfully was reintegrated into her family life in her teens and was doing well.
In 2017 Elisa needed to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital and was diagnosed with a form of mental illness that has become chronic.
It is for people like precious Elisa that this program exists. We are so grateful that we can provide a food box for her regularly. Most importantly, she feels loved and cared for by her Iris family.
Thank you for your care and support.
