Infant Milk Supplement Program:

Melanin's Story:

Melanin’s mother was chronically ill when she gave birth so Melanin didn't receive sufficient breastmilk for the first few months of life. When her mother passed away a few months later, Melanin's father fed her milky water that remained from boiling rice. After three weeks her father noticed she was quite frail and brought her to our Community Milk Program. At 4½ months, Melanin was barely the size of a 2-month-old and was very weak.

Infant Milk Supplement Program:

Zaina was born on January 28th and came to us weighing 2.99 kg.

Her mother has breast cancer and cannot breastfeed. Additionally, the mother was abandoned by her husband and left at home with three girls, 9, 7, and baby Zaina.

Zaina’s mother told us that she used to have a small business but no longer does due to lack of money, and the need to care for the children on her own.

The milk program is a great help to her and the family.

Infant Milk Supplement Program:

Delfa was admitted to the Community Infant Milk Program in 2020. She was the result of rape, and her mother refused to care. By her 5th day of life, she was malnourished, dehydrated, and had lost 0.27kg of her 3.1kg birth weight. Her mother’s sister-in-law took the baby into her home to care for her as her own, and named her Delfa, which means ‘royal first born’.
