April 2021 Zimpeto Community Infant Milk and Food Supplement Program Update

Infant Milk Supplement Program:

Delfa was admitted to the Community Infant Milk Program in 2020. She was the result of rape, and her mother refused to care. By her 5th day of life, she was malnourished, dehydrated, and had lost 0.27kg of her 3.1kg birth weight. Her mother’s sister-in-law took the baby into her home to care for her as her own, and named her Delfa, which means ‘royal first born’.

Caught early and brought to our program, Delfa quickly recovered from her despised beginnings and has blossomed into a beautiful little girl who loves to smile. Delfa is a living testimony of how God draws near, to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair – Isaiah 61:3.

Your loving support has allowed us to stop for this one, and come alongside Delfa’s new mother to provide for one of God’s beloved children.

Food Supplement Program:

The food supplement program provides 2 boxes of food a month to 80 families on an ongoing basis. Many other people come to us each month seeking help, so the numbers vary considerably month by month. We were grateful to be able to help so many when the needs increased dramatically during Covid. In the past 6 months, we provided for over 2,000.00 families.

Meet one of our recipients, Isabel, a 70-year-old blind woman, living alone, abandoned by family. Social Welfare identified her to us years ago, and since that time we have been providing her with food boxes twice a month, and caring for all of her needs (housing, clothing, and caregiving.

‘For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’  Matthew 25:35-40.
